Our professional guide will take you down Nevsky Prospect, St. Petersburg´s most famous and vibrant thoroughfare. There you will see some of the city´s most interesting architectural monuments including the Kazan Cathedral, St. Isaak’s Cathedral  and the Winter Palace. You will then proceed to Vasilevsky Island - the area of the city that Peter the Great originally planned to be the city center. This island juts out into the Gulf of Finland - reminding you of St. Petersburg´s close proximity to the sea and maritime history. The Peter and Paul Fortress - a symbol of St. Petersburg and also the oldest building in the city. You’ll see The Savoir on The Blood Cathedral  marvelous Russian-style church was built on the spot where Emperor Alexander II was assassinated. Both the interior and exterior of the church is decorated with incredibly detailed mosaics. The palace went down in Russian history as the place where the mysterious monk Grigory Rasputin was assassinated, a Siberian peasant who became the spiritual mentor and friend of Nicholas II and the Royal Family in the early 20th century.

Tour to Pavlovsk, Tsar Paul's stronghold

You  will visit to the Imperial suburb of Pavlovsk. Built in the late XVIII and early XIX centuries, the palace and park was used as a summer residence for emperor Paul I and his family. The landscape park, one of the largest in Europe, covers an area of 600 hectares. The museum in the palace displays an excellent collection of portraits by Russian artists and a number of Pavlovsk landscape paintings and drawings. Residential rooms of the Empress Maria Fedorovna are enrapturing with their harmonious beauty and are open the public.

Tour to Peterhof (Petrodvorets) by car

You will visit Peterhof  (Petrodvorets), a jewel of Russian art - a town of parks, palaces and fountains. In the past, it was used as an exquisite summer residence by the Russian Tsars. Verkhniy Garden and Nizhniy Park, are genuine masterpieces of landscape design. They include over 150 fountains and 4 monumental cascades. Within the park, there are 10 museums: the Grand Palace, Monplaisir, Catherine´s Block, Marli, Hermitage, the church of St. Alexander Nevsky (Gothic Capella), the Benois family museum, the Cottage, the Bath Block including Tafeldecker and Kaffeeschenk Rooms, the Kitchen and the Museum of Collectors. The exposition of the special treasury and the private room of Catherine the Great in the Block under the Armcoat of the Grand Palace are all open to the public.

Day trip to Novgorod - the ancient capital of Russia

Veliky Novgorod is one of Russia’s most ancient cities and was Russia’s first capital. In the 12th century the Novgorod city state controlled most of Europe´s North-East, from today´s Estonia to the Ural Mountains making it one of the largest states in medieval Europe. You will  come to the city and return by car with our guide. During the tour you will visit Novgorod’s Kremlin, the oldest in Russia.The cathedral of St. Sophia dominates the structure of the Kremlin. It is the best preserved of 11th century churches, probably the oldest structure still in use in Russia. The tour will also take you to the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Yaroslav´s Court. This cathedral was built to store an icon, believed to have magical powers. You will head to the Yuriev Monastery, a medieval religious complex built in 1030 along the Volkov River. The Cathedral of St. George will impress you by its size and beauty, as it was initially intended to surpass even St. Sophia’s cathedral in grandeur. You will then visit the open-air museum of wooden structures “Vitoslavisty"which is located close to the monastery. The museum will give you an idea of how Novgorod’s inhabitants lived in the past.

This excursion will be exciting for those who are interested in the military history of Russia. The tour includes a visit to the Artillery Museum and the Central Naval Museum. There are large displays of weaponry and ammunition, firearms and side-arms, military trophies, standards, battle paintings, decorations, uniforms and other relics from past wars. A large part of the museum is devoted to the Patriotic War of 1812 and the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). Heavy artillery, rockets, military engineering and signal equipment are on display in the large courtyard outside the museum. Russia´s main naval museum will tell you the fascinating story of the development, growth and achievements of the Russian Navy. The museum consists of 800 thousand exhibits, such as fascinating naval memorabilia, armaments, authentic maritime equipment, quality models of historically significant vessels and numerous paintings by marine artists. The pride of the museum is the boat of Peter the Great – Peter was known as the "Grandfather of the Russian Navy".

 

   

Dostoevsky’s St. Petersburg w/transport

Fyodor Dostoevsky, the famous Russian novelist, journalist and short-story writer spent much of his life in Russia’s Northern Capital, even though he was born in Moscow. In his novels, Saint Petersburg is depicted not only as a city of beautiful palaces and mansions, but a city of dark lanes and streets, tenement houses, narrow canals, yard-wells and unsavory characters. If you are interested in Dostoevsky, his novel Crime and Punishment, or any other works of this famous Russian writer, it’s worth exploring some of the sites that inspired Dostoevsky or that have been dedicated to him in memorial. Our guide will show you the places connected to the writer and heroes of his novels. You will pass along Stolyarny lane and Raskolnikov´s house, cross the Kokushkin bridge, go to Sennaya Square (Hay Square) and pay a visit to the Dostoevsky Memorial ApartmentThe writer lived here for 4 years with his wife and children. Finally, you will visit Dostoevsky’s grave in Tikhvin Cemetery (Lavra) in St. Petersburg.

St Petersburg is a city of magnificent cathedrals and beautiful churches. During this tour you will have the possibility to visit St. Isaac’s Cathedral the largest Russian Orthodox cathedral in the city, the largest orthodox basilica and the fourth largest cathedral in the world. It is dedicated to Saint Isaac of Dalmatia, a patron saint of Peter the Great. St. Nicholas Cathedral is one of the oldest cathedrals in St Petersburg. It is one of a very few cathedrals in the city that was not closed during Soviet times. Then you will pay a visit to the Kazan Cathedral, a cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church on Nevsky Prospekt. It is dedicated to Our Lady of Kazan, probably the most venerated icon in Russia.
